The Top 20; a celebration of the first five years of the Very Large Telescope.
The Paranal observatory has four telescopes each with an 8 metre primary. Named from the Mapuche language the instruments are called Antu, Kueyen, Melipal and Yepun (Sun, Moon, Southern Cross and Sirius respectively). Image of the facility and a now outdated engineering page (see, it says so, right there on the page).
Excellent post
cheers
Beautiful.
Sweet! I might find an interesting way to use the full-rez .tifs in a Jitter patch. Ah, I should be working on Jitter stuff right now, but instead I gaze into the (virtual) cosmos....
Anyone who likes this will also appreciate good 'ol APOD.
