I like bookplates, but could never bring myself to committ to one - it would be so permanent, like a tattoo. I like writing my name and the date on the flyleaf though, and I always inscribe books that are special gifts.

Gorgeous, gorgeous! I used to do the bookplate thing, but I've had to severely limit the size of my library so I keep very few anymore. I'm in the process of designing a donor bookplate for work, so this should give me some good fodder to work with!

This is great, Argh! A previous thread on bookplates. Some Hungarian bookplates. Still more bookplates. Some downloadable bookplates. Plus three more. Heraldic bookplates.

Bookplates are way cool. I guess I'm just not formal enough to have one. Kinda silly in a paperback. It would be fun to have a bookplate collection, though. I hate to write my name in a book, although I will if I loan one I expect back. I was chastized for marking in a book as a toddler, and it seems like a bad thing to do ever since. Plus, I have such crappy writing. Books are precious.

Yes. The ones ye want to reread are priceless.
