Gamebooks. Frighteningly comprehensive guide to gamebooks

Worth looking around for some of the covers to the books. Some of the Fighting Fantasy books had a profound effect on my tiny little mind when I was child - especially The City of Thieves and Deathtrap Dungeon, among others

  • Also, my 250th thread. I'm going to have to start repeating myself, soon...
  • /whistful sigh I never thought I'd find them again!
  • Oh, wow. This totally takes me back. Especially the covers. Just...wow. A friend and I went nuts over the 1 on 1 books when we were young. And some of the others in this list bring back very fond memories. Dragonquest. The Endless Catacombs. I'm kind of intrigued by this one.
  • Yeah, you know, EEscape From the Holocaust? Just a little tacky.
  • The extra 'E' is for 'Tacky-E'!
  • Yeah, you know, Escape From the Holocaust? Just a little tacky. Good god. I really, really want that book, now
  • It can be yours for as little as 75 cents!
  • Hot holy crap! Scroll down! He's got f*ing logs of him and a friend playing the 1 On 1 Adventures! I must find and marry this man!
  • The City of Thieves! The Forest of Doom! The Warlock of Firetop Mountain!! /iz ded from nostalgia Grand post, thanks ding.
  • Hey - you know that many of these are back in print?
  • The new covers are awful, though. It almost makes me cry
  • I can't believe this post hasn't gotten more comments. I mean, damn! Look at these things. I vote this best post of the decade.
  • We ought to do a cross-blog choose your own whatever or something.
  • Where are the thingummies from Judge Dred? Or the illustrations from Harn? Ah, well, my list goes on and on.
