The Alcoholic Monkeys of St. Kitts exhibit "skeedrow behavior." Alex Shoumatoff takes you there.

So which one is Sebastian Bach?

Fascinating - though I, like the author, was a bit creeped out by the Dr. Moreau moments.

Another catastrophic remake of a cinema treasure. Charles Laughton, anyone?

I have never seen either film - my knowledge comes entirely from the Simpson's parody.

That said, Charles Laughton was brilliant in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939) - I used to love that film when I was a pre-teen. (I still do, I'm just trying to score weirdness points be emphasising my early taste for the silver screen. I have very little else to do with my life).

Never seen *The Night of the Hunter*, Laughton's only film as director?

Fie thee to a fine DVD outlet, immediately, and get *The Island of Lost Souls* while you're there. Top stuff. Top of the top.
