Amazing picture from the Large Binocular Telescope at Arizona of NGC89 - a 24 million light years distant galaxy.

Compare with previous image.

404.

Correct link

Thanks Evstar

This is another "previous" image.

Doing well aren't I.

Stuffed link, incorrect galaxy naming, similar picture already available. I'm going home.

well i think it's pretty....

Cool to see we're finally getting back pictures from this scope. They've been working on it for years and years and years. The last mirror was brought up a couple of months ago. Here's the story behind the haul: How to haul a mirror up a mountain (Click the pictures for larger versions. ) I can assure you that that road is extremely challenging to drive a car up, let alone haul a multi-million dollar pieve of precision glass that took years to make.
I used to go camping on that mountain twice a year, and the stargazing there is second to none. They should be getting a lot of showstopper photos from this scope.

Martin Segundo and his Scintilla Strings: 'When Twilight Falls on NGC 891'.

I looked at the cakes first and my mind must be stuck there because that looks genital to me!

Kewl, giant blue kitty.

Man, can you imagine the size of the Telrad they need on that thing?

Yeah, but what about this incredible image?

Great back story azpenguin, very Fitzcarraldo.
Thanks for fixing the link tracicle.
Hey Wolof, I just went home, I didn't die :-)

Chyren should get some kind of prize for the Dark Star reference.
