What are creative people listening to these days? Find out at Designer's Mixtape; 14 creative types so far, each offering seven selections, nicely streamed in an easy-to-use thingamabob.

This by way of apology for the Blossom thing, sorry about that, and just in time for the coming Swapitation. In the interim: anyone care for a delicious moon rover?

  • This looks good...can't wait to check it out when I get time. The Blossom thing wasn't your fault
  • Great way to share mixes! Having worked for a design firm for too many years, I see a lot of the usual suspects... but there is some interesting stuff there I haven't heard before. *imagines the MoFi CD swap shared in this format* *pop's Fes' mix in and cranks it up!*
  • So some poor Brazilian is working for a company called 'Golden Shower' ??? poor sod. That makes me feel much better as I have just found out what my (sensibly named) company is changing its name to tomorrow (can't share) It's stupid, but not as stupid as Golden Shower ...
  • This looks like a cool way to share music. That said, it's amusing to me how homogenous the music is in terms of genre/style- always entertaining how conformist "creative" people can be in certain ways.
  • But I would love to get involved in a "CD swap" in this format. I participated in one but stopped because, sad as it may seem, the physical work of burning, making the packaging and mailing them took a sizable chunk of time. And I dont really play CDs anymore, so when I got other people's I had to rip them and manually input the meta info. So something like this or even just mp3 downloads would be awesome.
  • That makes me feel much better as I have just found out what my (sensibly named) company is changing its name to tomorrow (can't share) Stab in the dark here, but dick.com?
  • Fab post, thanks, Fes. Though I'd have to argue strongly with you, drjimmy11, that the music is homogenous at all - there's tons of different stuff. The unfortunate Golden Shower dude has a horror soundtrack thing going on, there's Massive Attack and Oingo Boingo and Ryan Adams - little similarity there - and tons of stuff not in English I don't know, and one even had AC/DC. I dunno about you, but that's not exactly "conforming with the cool kids" to me. Not the hipsters, at least. Yeah, it's true that often people who think they're "cool" are just conforming and copying each other, but it's an unnecessary and kinda lame argument in this case.
  • really, they had AC/DC? I retract my statement then. I saw like "nirvana" 8 times in a row..
  • Good stuff; great for unclogging aural arteries, hardened with the same old favorite tracks and CDs. Thanks!
  • Duende ... much as I'd love to 'own' the company ... I'm just a humble wage-slave ... today we're BBC Broadcast ... tomorrow we're ...
  • AC/DC is huge among hipsters, in a kind of ironic-retro way. You people are so fucking square that you have corners.
  • in a kind of ironic-retro way *retches*
  • Greatest inventions of mankind: 1) Man-made fire 2) The wheel 3) The alphabet 4) The live recording of Thunderstruck 5) Soft cheese
  • 6) The live recording of Whole Lotta Rosie
  • *bangs head*
  • We did a #mofirc swap like this back in March - I think it's still up on the MoFi Wiki. It was a lot of fun. I actually proposed the MoFi CDX could be done like that (there's an old post on the CDX boards somewhere) but I don't think people were really keen on the idea, because it's neat to get packages in the mail, also the cover art thing and so on.
  • Not streaming, I should say, but mp3s online for download.
  • Metachat does a lot of music swapping that way, just putting something on yousendit and posting a link. Maybe shotsy's boards could be used likewise?
